Kumori

7 February 2009:

Kumori cried all night. I could just barely comfort him. He refused water and food for over 24 hours. He has lost so much weight. He no longer tried to get up.

I made the decision to put him down. Ian came and we took him to the Pasadena Humane Society.

I am currently looking for witnesses:

See my letter to the editor of the Pasadena Star News.

31 January 2009:

Kumori got up and stumbled around the small dog park today.

We took him to the dog park to listen to the sounds and just when we were about to leave, he got up. We got him out of the car and went to the small dog park. He even lifted his tail to greet a few other dogs three times.

He didn’t pee. We’re still waiting for that, but he did decide when he wanted to leave.

Kumori, my beloved collie, was once the herding terror of the Pasadena dog park. Actually, he had a select few dogs that he would herd, barking at them when they wanted to rest. He loved herding Bandit, a border collie mix; Jackson, a middle-aged black Lab, and Boomer, a golden retriever. When I took him to the dog park, he couldn’t make it to the gate by himself earlier this week and he didn’t raise his tail as was his custom when he heard another dog.

So far, between us, we have spent over $1,000 on vets for him and doctors for me. I sent a letter to the owner of the Doberman as well as two emails with no response. I even dropped by his store.

If you can spare the change, and I know with the state of the economy, few people can, then give. If not, then please buy dog insurance. I wish I had.
